Buddhism thought…
The more I reflect on Buddhism, the more relevant it feels to modern life.
Particularly modern leadership.
Because so much of today’s world pushes us towards the opposite of what Buddhism teaches.
More consumption.
More certainty.
More ego.
More reaction.
More comparison.
We are encouraged to move faster, say more, consume more and constantly prove ourselves.
But certainty is fragile.
And one of the most powerful things my retreat reinforced was this:
Peace does not come from controlling everything around us.
It comes from understanding our relationship to it.
That does not mean withdrawing from life.
Far from it.
It means engaging with greater awareness.
Listening more carefully.
Reacting less impulsively.
Holding perspectives more lightly.
I think many leaders underestimate how important this is becoming.
Because the future will not belong to those who react fastest to every piece of noise.
It will belong to those who can remain thoughtful within it.
I’ll be exploring these themes further later this year with Vicar Kevin Blogg in Norfolk:
Buddhism: The Philosophy & The Religion
📅 October 2nd
And I suspect the conversation will leave us with more questions than answers.
Which perhaps is exactly the point.
